Glow from the Inside Out: The OG TCM Beauty Hack You Need to Try

Skincare isn’t just about what you put on your face—it’s about what you put in your body. If you’re piling on serums but still dealing with dryness, breakouts, or dullness, it’s time to look deeper.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has known this forever. In TCM, your skin is basically a reflection of what’s going on inside—your digestion, hydration levels, and overall balance. That’s why eating your skincare is a thing, and trust me, it works.

One of my favorite ways to keep my skin hydrated, plump, and glowing is by making a simple beauty soup using Tremella mushroom (snow fungus), peach gum, jujube dates, and goji berries. This combo has been a TCM beauty secret for generations, and once you try it, you’ll see why. I also love pairing this inner nourishment with Moonbow’s serum and moisturizer, which are infused with TCM herbs like jujube and chrysanthemum to lock in moisture and support a radiant complexion from the outside in. ✨ Shop my skincare essentials here!

Why Food is the Ultimate Skincare

Think of your skin like a plant—you can mist it all you want, but if you’re not watering the roots, it’s still going to dry out. That’s why skincare needs to start from the inside.

TCM has been using herbs and superfoods for centuries to hydrate, boost collagen, and fight aging naturally. Here’s why these ingredients are next-level when it comes to skin health:

Tremella Mushroom (Snow Fungus): Acts like natural hyaluronic acid, keeping your skin super hydrated and bouncy.
Peach Gum: A plant-based collagen booster that helps smooth out fine lines and makes your skin feel soft and supple.
Jujube Dates: These little powerhouses help with blood circulation, meaning your skin gets more nutrients and stays fresh.
Goji Berries: Packed with antioxidants to fight free radicals, brighten your skin, and support collagen production.

Basically, this soup is a drinkable glow-up.

The Viral-Worthy Glow Soup Recipe

Here’s how you can make it yourself—it's easy, delicious, and your skin will love you for it.

Ingredients:

✔️ 1 small Tremella mushroom (soak overnight)
✔️ 10g Peach gum (soak overnight)
✔️ 5-6 Jujube dates (remove pits)
✔️ 1 tbsp Goji berries
✔️ 5 cups Water
✔️ Optional: Rock sugar or honey (for sweetness)

How to Make It:

🔹 The Night Before:

  • Soak Tremella mushroom and peach gum in separate bowls of water. They’ll expand and get super jelly-like.
  • In the morning, drain them, remove any hard bits, and chop the Tremella into small pieces.

🔹 Cooking Time:

  1. Bring 5 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Add the Tremella mushroom and let it simmer for 30 minutes (it’ll turn soft and a little gooey).
  3. Toss in the peach gum and jujube dates, and let everything cook for another 20 minutes.
  4. Add goji berries in the last 5 minutes. If you want it sweet, throw in some rock sugar or honey.
  5. Serve warm!

Drink this 2-3 times a week for long-term skin benefits. It’s like your skincare routine but in food form.
